Project SHOP is the next event realized within the framework of The Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdańsk in CEA Łaźnia in Nowy Port. On 25th September we invite you to attend a vernissage and a lecture by Ion Sørvin, founder of Copenhaggen group N55.
N55 is an artistic collective active in Copenhagen since 1994. The group perceives art as part of everyday life. Their projects, which are then published in Manuals placed on the website www. N55.dk and thus made available on the basis of Open Source for those who want to work together, building on the ideas of alternative economy and open access to the means of production. In this way the project SHOP arose. Its first edition took place at the Centre for Contemporary Arts in 2002. Then the project was presented in New York (USA), Iasi (Romania), Les Arques (France), Copenhagen (Denmark).
The „neighbourhood” character of the SHOP is based on „small group ethics” . The artists say that problems can be solved through communication within a small community. The same applies to decisions of the joint action. For a large group, the direct communication must be replaced by voting and the introduction of legal principles.
SHOP is equipped with goods brought by the public. But they cannot be acquired in exchange for money. However, you can use them on the spot, rent, swap or even possibly take them. Every time organizers of SHOP decide what type of goods will be found in it and how they can be used. At Laznia CCA, due to the autumn season maturing and fruiting, they can mainly be:
- PICKLED VEGETABLES AND FRUITS
- COOKBOOKS AND COOKING RECIPES
- SMALL HOUSEHOLD EQUIPMENT
- HABERDASHERY AND SEWING MATERIALS
- SCHOOL SUPPLIES
