Join us for the last meeting of the LOWER TOWN LIVE series this Friday on 29 August. The ethereal duo LILLY HATES ROSES will perform amongst old buildings, in Laznia CCA’s backyard at 8pm. Before the concert, at 6pm there will be another chance to discover the mysterious parts of the district during the next LOWER TOWN TALKS trip.
Summer is closer to its end and we are also preparing to conclude this year’s The Outdoor Gallery of The City of Gdansk series of events realised in public space. So far we’ve had several opportunities to discover various interesting parts of the district. The events were attended by the regular participants of artistic actions as well as tourists and citizens of the Lower Town of every age groups – from kids to seniors.
The concert of LILLY HATES ROSES will conclude this year’s edition of the Lower Town Live events. They released their album ‘Someting to Happen’ on 30th of July 2013, and they already debuted on the air of iconic American KEXP radiostation. The tack ‘Youth’ was covered by Sarak Blackwood, who’s an author of many famous covers. Very quickly they became an interest of the wild of music and were enthusiastically welcomed on Open’er and Slot Art. Festivals. While promoting their debut album they gave 25 shows in Poland and Germany. Their last tour also included Ireland. In the spring of 2014 they will tour in Iceland, where they are going to produce a documentary film. Their music is based on indie-folk, supported by avant-garde electronics, surrounded with melancholic, intimate lyrics. The album was produced by Maciej Cieślak (Ścianka, Lenny Valentino). Smolik was responsible for mastering, the album was recorded with the use of analog technique. Something for Bon Iver, Low, The XX fans.
