5th Edition of The Outdoor Gallery in an Exhibition

On 22 February at Laznia CCA we are opening the exhibition presenting the results of the 5th edition of The International Competition of the Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdansk, organised in cooperation with Pomorskie Metropolitan Rail. The exhibition is on till 24 March 2013.

The Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdańsk is a long-term, international project realized by Laznia Centre for Contemporary Art a aiming to create a permanent collection of works of art in urban space. Projects assigned for realisation are chosen by a jury in regularly announced, closed, international competitions. This time the Outdoor Gallery has left the borders of the Lower Town district for a while and focused on a different area of Gdansk.

The book “Art and Public Space” is published!

We present you the latest book published by Laznia Centre for Contemporary Art Art and Public Space. This publication is a recording and material proof of the first symposium of the Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdańsk which took place on 26 February 2011 in Gdańsk.

The symposium, entitled Art and Public Space, was the first attempt at reflecting on the actions of the Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdańsk, which resonate on an international scale. Not only it’s member-jurors were in attendance. The event attracted artists, advisors and supporters of this enterprise as well as representatives of the Pomerania Metropolitan Rail, whose participation heralded the next (fifth) edition of the Gallery’s competition.

Support the publication “Fight Specific Isola”!

We start new year with a crowdfunding campaign to support the publication Fight Specific Isola, which Bert Theis and Mariette Schiltz have been working on feverishly in the last months.

It would be wonderful, if you could contribute some time – and some money! – to this initiative, which serves to fund the production and distribution of the book of Bert Theis – an artist, who is now part of the Outdoor Gallery of the City of Gdansk and his publication touches all the sensitive spots.

Every contribution counts, most of all as kickstarter has one limit: your credit card will only be charged (and Isola Art Center will only get money), if we reach the target amount of 5,500 $ by March 8th, 2013. Otherwise all our common efforts will be in vain.
